Compare
Private deployment versus public cloud
This is a solution-level comparison for general scenarios, not a review of any specific vendor. A real decision needs business volume, compliance requirements and operational capability taken into account.
Dimensions
Eight dimensions worth evaluating
Each dimension involves trade-offs in both directions; there is no one-sided winner.
| Dimensions | FeiyanCloud private deployment | Public cloud RTC / IM services |
|---|---|---|
| Data location and sovereignty | Data is stored in your chosen data centre or private cloud; retention and encryption policy are yours to define. | Data is stored in the provider's cloud, governed by its regional footprint and compliance templates. |
| Network dependency | Runs on intranets, dedicated links and isolated networks without public ingress. | Depends on public internet access and provider points of presence; cross-border quality depends on the path. |
| Customisation | Message models, signalling flows and permission logic can be tailored to your business. | Primarily standard APIs and productised features; customisation is bounded by the provider roadmap. |
| Integration and migration | Requires integrating with existing identity, permission and storage systems, which is more work. | Available immediately; standard SDK integration is fast and migration cost is low. |
| Operational responsibility | The customer or integrator owns deployment, monitoring, scaling and upgrades. | The provider owns infrastructure operations and elastic scaling. |
| Elasticity and peaks | Capacity must be planned ahead; sudden peaks rely on reserved headroom. | Scales on demand, which suits workloads with sharp fluctuations. |
| Cost structure | Mainly self-hosted resources and licensing; unit cost becomes predictable at steady scale. | Usage-based billing with low start-up cost; long-term large-scale cost grows with usage. |
| Time to launch | Depends on private environment preparation and integration work, usually longer. | Fast to provision, suitable for validation and small-scale launches. |
When reading this comparison
- The comparison describes typical differences between delivery models and does not represent any specific vendor's capabilities or pricing.
- A real TCO calculation should include concurrency, retention periods, bandwidth cost and staffing. We recommend quantifying these during solution design.
How to decide
Narrow it down with three questions
- 1
Can your data leave your environment?
If the answer is no, private deployment is usually the only viable path. If data can be hosted, evaluate cost and operational capability next.
- 2
Is your volume steady and predictable?
Steady, sizeable workloads suit self-hosting; volatile workloads suit on-demand elasticity.
- 3
Do you have operations capability?
Private deployment needs ongoing monitoring, scaling and upgrades. Without operations resources, consider working with an integrator.
